Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how One Culture LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), a limited liability company based in Tennessee, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Tell Your Sons website and the Tell Your Sons mobile application for iOS and Android (together, the "Service").
We built Tell Your Sons to be quiet on purpose. No feeds, no noise — and as little of your data as possible.
The Short Version
- We collect only what the app needs to work: your account details, your reading progress, and basic diagnostics.
- We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- You can delete your account and all of its data from inside the app, or by emailing us.
Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to run the Service:
- Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and, optionally, a display name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier and email address those services share with us (which may be a private relay address if you choose to hide your email). We never receive your Apple or Google password.
- Reading progress and saved content. Your daily reading progress, streaks, completed days, plan selections, and any notes, highlights, or bookmarks you choose to save, so the app can keep your place and sync it across your devices.
- Purchase information. If you buy a subscription or other in-app purchase, the transaction is processed by Apple or Google. We receive confirmation of the purchase, a transaction identifier, and your subscription status so we can unlock what you paid for. We never receive or store your payment card number.
- Device and diagnostic information. Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and time zone; crash reports; and aggregated, anonymized usage statistics (for example, which screens are used most) that help us fix bugs and improve the Service.
- Notifications. If you turn on daily reading reminders, we store a device push token so we can deliver them. You can turn reminders off at any time in the app or in your device settings.
- Communications. If you email us, we keep the correspondence so we can respond and improve support.
We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photos, your health data, or your browsing history outside the Service.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the Service, including syncing your reading progress across devices.
- To process and verify purchases and manage your subscription.
- To send reading reminders you have asked for.
- To respond to your questions and support requests.
- To understand how the Service is used, diagnose problems, and improve it.
- To send you important notices about the Service or changes to our terms. We do not send marketing email unless you opt in.
- To protect the security and integrity of the Service and comply with the law.
Where the law requires a legal basis for processing (for example in the EEA or UK), we rely on the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and improving the Service, your consent where we ask for it, and compliance with legal obligations.
Tracking and Advertising
- We do not sell your personal information. Ever.
- We do not show advertising in the Service and do not build advertising profiles of you.
- We do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and we do not use your device's advertising identifier (such as Apple's IDFA). Because we do not track, the app will not ask you for tracking permission.
- We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Sharing of Information
We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers. Companies that help us operate the Service — such as cloud hosting and databases, authentication, crash reporting and analytics, and push notification delivery — and only to the extent necessary for them to perform their work for us. These providers may only use your data on our instructions and are bound by contractual obligations to protect it to a standard at least as protective as this policy.
- App stores. Apple and Google process in-app purchases under their own privacy policies. We receive only the purchase information described above.
- Legal reasons. If required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or One Culture LLC.
- Business transfers. If One Culture LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Data Retention and Deleting Your Account
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service to you. Diagnostic and crash data is kept only as long as it is useful for fixing problems, and aggregated statistics are not tied to you.
You can delete your account at any time, directly from the app: open Settings, choose Account, and tap Delete Account. You can also email us at info@tellyoursons.com from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.
When you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, reading progress, saved content, and push token from our active systems. Copies in encrypted backups are purged on a rolling basis within 30 days. We may keep limited records where the law requires it (for example, purchase records for tax and accounting purposes).
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google must be cancelled in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
Your Choices
- Reminders. Turn daily reading reminders on or off in the app, or disable notifications for Tell Your Sons in your device settings.
- Email. Unsubscribe from any optional email using the link in the message. We will still send essential account and legal notices.
- Access and export. Ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction. Update your email or display name in the app, or ask us to correct inaccurate information.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email info@tellyoursons.com. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law (generally within 30 days). We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
California residents. We do not sell personal information and do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act. The categories of personal information we collect, and the purposes for collecting them, are described above. You may exercise your rights to know, delete, and correct by contacting us, and you may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
International Users
One Culture LLC is based in the United States, and the Service is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for these transfers.
Security
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data as if it were our own. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
